Like many before us, we gathered in small groups and started having discussions about the past, present, and future of Karnali. Words got out and our team started getting larger as we welcomed many new activists day after day. Coming from the different walks of life and having our unique experiences, there was only one thing that we all share in common, our yearning for Karnali’s prosperity.  In all of our discussions, we got a chance to hear one thing that was common to all of our experiences; the distorted and highly gloomy portrayal of Karnali in places like Kathmandu. We realized that this has led to the alienation of youths from their own place on the one hand and has misled the other people’s view towards Karnali on the other hand.

Therefore, we decided to do our part in shifting the limelight from the gloomier side of Karnali to the brighter side. Karnali cannot truly set out on its journey of prosperity without recognizing its holistic image with all the strengths and weaknesses. This encouraged us to organize the “Grand Karnali Expo” in Kathmandu under the theme of “celebrating the magnificence of our past and possibilities of our future” which intended to expose the brighter side of Karnali based on the twin pillars of our glorious history and prospects of our future. Now, we are focused on long-term sustainable activities that will contribute to the prosperity of Karnali.
